Shelter
Completed 24-26.1.2003

In Manitoba prairies wind enhences greatly the effect of cold. We wanted to construct a shelter where 15 people can overnight under very hostile conditions. Outside temperature falls to - 40 C degrees, actual cold effect on skin with wind is around -60 C.

The shelter is supported a framework of 2x4 beams, claded with straw bails used as bricks. The straw functions as construction as well as insulation.
